Dipika Damerla is a Mississauga City Councillor, former Ontario cabinet minister and candidate for Mayor of Mississauga, bringing experience in municipal government, provincial policy and business to her campaign.
First elected as MPP for Mississauga
East–Cooksville in 2011, Dipika served as Ontario’s Associate Minister of
Health and Long-Term Care and Minister of Seniors Affairs. During her time at
Queen’s Park, she advocated for 350 additional beds at Mississauga Hospital,
two new long-term care homes, two new schools and increased service on the
Milton GO line.
Dipika was elected to Mississauga City
Council in 2018 to represent Ward 7, Cooksville, and has served residents
through two municipal terms. Her experience includes advocating for
neighbourhoods and various different communities, scrutinizing City spending
and pressing for greater accountability in local government.
Running under the banner A City That Works,
Dipika is proposing a freeze on the City’s property tax levy for 2027 while
protecting essential services, a four-day pothole repair guarantee, fairer
police cost-sharing and an independent municipal Auditor General.
Her campaign centres on practical service
delivery, responsible spending and a City Hall that is transparent, accountable
and focused on residents.
